In the summer of 2004, Dinamo Bucureşti decided to buy the place from Divizia B, of Metalul Plopeni, and to set up the second team of Dinamo. The purpose of this team is the formation of young players from the club from "Stephan the Great" street and the possibility of some players from first team who have some problems (to return after an injury, to be in a bad form, when the relationship between player and the club aren't good, etc.) to can play. Dinamo 2 has qualified in Eighth finals of Romanian cup, season 2004-05, being defeated very hard by Universitatea Craiova, 2-3 aet, after in Sixteen finals eliminated the club from Divizia A, FCU Poli Timişoara.
