| Historical note: | The team from Târgu-Jiu was founded
in 1974 as Cimentul Târgu-Jiu, was affiliated at Football Romanian Federation
in 1976, year when it promoted in Third Division. After two years the
team promoted in Second Division, Victor Pițurcă being the striker at
the beginning of 80's. Then it has started the decline, relegations, till
the team had to play in districtual division. But in season 1992-93, the
team was took over by mining exploitation Roșia Rovinari, the team changeing
the name in Jiul Rovinari, name with which it promoted in Third Division.
The best season was 2003-04, when the team was at one step of promotion
in Divizia A, but this thing succeeded Sportul Studențesc București. Sponsored
by National Company of Lignite Oltenia and with a very good trainer, Emil
Săndoi, the team can hope at promovation next season... |
