Daniel Niculae opened the score in 53 minute, after a cross of 40 metres, from Buga. In 73 minute, Mugurel Buga scored for 2-0, heading after a cross of Vali Bădoi. In first half, Răzvan Lucescu used a defensive play, with actions on counter attack, and Germans had a better possession and tried to defeat goalkeeper Coman even from biginning. Hertha missed the best opportunity to score in 41 minute, when Sverkos sent the ball in the bar. In second part Rapid insisted more on attack, and in 51 minute Buga was close to open the score, he shooting near by the post, after a good pass from Nicolae Constantin. Then it followed the goal of Daniel Niculae and the Germans replyed by Chahed, who shot over the bar from a good position. After they received the second goal, the Germans fell psychic, letting Rapid to waste more opportunities to score.
