Steaua București has succeeded an excellent result with Belgians from Standard, winning the match with 2-0 by goals of Dragutinoviæ (67 own goal) and Rică Neaga (80). If in first half Standard was more dangerous, having more opportunities than Steaua, in second half the things stayed different. It was need only of a single mistake of the Belgians and then the game flowed in the favour of Steaua, who succeeded with 10 minutes before the end the decisive detachment. First half was balanced, both teams playing cautious, hoping not to get a goal. Belgians started better, having first opportunity by Geraerts, who shot in 7 minute near by the post of Martin Tudor. In 12 minute Neaga made a change of passes with Florentin Dumitru, but the lobe of little midfielder was with a few cm over the post. The best player of first half, Bangoura, could open the score in 23 minute, but his shot from 3 metres passed near the post. In 40 minute, Bangoura forced Baciu to send the ball to his own post, but Ogăraru was careful and saved the ball. After one minute, the veteran Dorinel Munteanu sent a very good shot from 25 metres, as in his good days, but Vedran Runje saved it in last moment. At the beginning of second half, Oprița tried to impress the scouts of AS Monaco, came in Ghencea especially to watch him, but his shot from 20 metres was vague. Dominique D'Onofrio made an uninspired substitute in 62 minute, sending on the field the Finn Niemi in place of Bangoura, who was till then the nightmare of Steaua's defenders. In 67 minute, Dorinel Munteanu crossed from the penalty area from the left side and Dragutinoviæ headed in his own post. In tribunes the supporters were in ecstasy, especially their favorites didn't retire in defence, but continued to attack the post of Runje. With 10 minutes before the final, international Sorin Paraschiv, got a pass at the limit of the off-side and remained alone with the post of Standard, passed to Neaga, who had to accomplish a simple formality. At 2-0 Zenga sent on the field Ciocoiu and Falemi, more to pass the time. Steaua won first 3 points and after the performance from this evening the fans can hope at a good result in next match, when on 4 November will meet AC Parma on "Ennio Tardini" stadium.
